Where to stay in Seoul while having treatment
Stay in the district where you are being treated — Gangnam, Sinsa or Apgujeong. The most repeated regret in visitor accounts is booking a hotel in Myeongdong and commuting forty minutes to a Gangnam clinic, several times, while recovering.
A hotel is fine for a laser trip. For anything surgical, the two things that decide how bearable the week is are a washing machine and a kitchen — which is why serviced apartments usually beat hotels once you are staying more than a few nights.
What each type costs, and who it suits
| Type | Per night | Good for | Watch out |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hotel | ₩120,000–₩250,000 | Short stays, injectables and laser trips, anyone who wants housekeeping | No kitchen and usually no laundry. Both matter more than you expect after surgery. |
| Serviced apartment | ₩90,000–₩180,000 | Stays over a week. Surgery recovery. Kitchen and washing machine included | Minimum stay is often 3–7 nights. Book earlier than a hotel. |
| Guesthouse / registered Airbnb | ₩50,000–₩110,000 | Budget stays, solo travellers who want company | Shared spaces and stairs. Confirm the property holds a foreign tourist city homestay registration — unregistered listings are common and are not legal accommodation. |
| Motel | ₩45,000–₩90,000 | Cheapest option near Gangnam. Fine for a night or two before treatment | Rarely suitable for recovery. Often no lift, no daylight, and no one to call if something goes wrong at 3am. |
| Monthly rental | ₩1,200,000–₩2,500,000 / month | Multi-stage treatment, hair transplant follow-up, long courses | Under 30 nights this requires accommodation-business registration. A private landlord letting short-term is usually not legal, and you have no recourse if it goes wrong. |
Ranges observed in Gangnam, Sinsa and Apgujeong in August 2026. Prices rise sharply in March–May and September–November.
What actually matters after surgery
- A lift. Third-floor walk-ups are common in Korean guesthouses and motels. After facial or body surgery this is not a minor detail.
- A washing machine. You will be changing dressings and sleeping on towels. Hotel laundry is charged per item and takes a day.
- A kitchen, or at least a kettle and fridge. Chewing hurts after jaw and facial work. Being able to make soup at 2am matters.
- Late checkout. Surgery days run long and you may not be discharged when you expected.
- Someone at the desk at night. If something is wrong at 3am you want a person, not a keypad.
What we will and will not list
Korean accommodation must be registered to operate legally, and the category matters. A private apartment let for a week is not legal accommodation unless it holds a foreign tourist city homestay registration. A monthly rental under thirty nights needs accommodation-business registration.
We only list properties whose registration we have checked, and we show the registration type on each listing. Unregistered stays are cheaper for a reason: if something goes wrong you have no recourse, and neither do we.
