People

원장wonjang

Literally the clinic director, but in Korean aesthetic clinics it is the polite title for any doctor.

Ask: Is the doctor at my consultation the one who treats me?

상담실장sangdam siljang

Consultation manager. Not a doctor. Discusses packages and prices before or after you see the doctor.

Ask: Which parts of today’s advice came from the doctor?

전문의jeonmunui

Board-certified specialist, e.g. 피부과 전문의 (dermatology) or 성형외과 전문의 (plastic surgery).

Ask: Any licensed doctor may perform aesthetic treatments in Korea, so ask which board, if it matters to you.

Prices

Promotional or first-visit price. Often limited to one session, one area or a smaller dose.

Ask: What exactly is included at this price, and what does the second session cost?

부가세bugase

VAT, 10%. Some lists include it, some do not. The foreign-patient refund on cosmetic treatment ended in January 2026.

Sessions or a pre-paid course. Cheaper per session, but only useful if you can come back.

Korean clinic words: common questions

What does “wonjang” mean at a Korean clinic?

Wonjang (원장) is the title used for the doctor who heads a clinic. Patients usually address doctors as wonjang-nim.

What are “shots” on a Korean price list?

For devices such as Thermage or Ultherapy, the price is set by the number of shots delivered. Compare two quotes at the same shot count.
