What the days after actually look like
- Day 0–3Chest tightness and pain, worse with under-muscle placement. Compression bra on. You need help lifting anything.
- Day 7–10Sutures out. Earliest most surgeons clear you to fly, and long-haul flights are uncomfortable.
- Week 3–6Implants still sitting high. This is normal and worries people.
- Month 3–6Implants settle into position. This is the real shape.
Plan your trip around this. Clinics will book you whenever you ask; they will not reorganise your holiday for you.
Before and after
We do not have breast augmentation before-and-after photographs yet. When we do, every one will carry the clinic's name, how long after the procedure it was taken, and whether the two photographs were shot under the same lighting. We do not retouch them, and we do not publish a photograph without the patient's written consent.
Sites that show polished results without those details are usually showing you stock or AI-generated images rather than patients. We would rather show you nothing here than that.
Who should not have this
- You are staying under ten days. This is major surgery under general anaesthesia and you should not fly early.
- You are travelling alone with no one to help for the first three days. Ask the clinic what aftercare they actually provide.
- You want a size chosen from a photo. Chest width and tissue thickness limit what fits and looks natural.
- You have not asked about revision. Implants are not lifetime devices — ask what happens at year ten and who pays.
- A clinic will not name the implant brand and model going in. That number belongs in your records for the rest of your life.
- You are combining it with facial surgery on the same trip to save money. Two general anaesthetics and two recoveries is not one trip.
Questions people actually ask
How much is breast augmentation in Korea?
$4,000–$9,000 depending on implant type and brand. Smooth round silicone under the muscle — the most common choice — runs $4,500–$7,500.
How long do I need to stay?
Ten to fourteen days. Sutures at day seven to ten, and a long flight in the first week is genuinely painful.
Which implant brand do Korean clinics use?
Motiva, Mentor, Sebbin and Allergan are all common. Brand affects price materially. Ask for brand, model and volume in writing and keep it.
Is it cheaper than at home?
Usually. The same operation runs $7,000–$12,000 in the US. Once flights and a two-week stay are added the gap narrows to a few thousand dollars.
What about follow-up after I go home?
This is the real question with implant surgery abroad. Ask what the clinic covers, how you contact them, and whether they have any arrangement in your country. Most do not, and you should plan for local follow-up.
Do implants need replacing?
They are not lifetime devices. Many are fine well past ten years, but rupture and capsular contracture happen. Budget for the possibility rather than assuming one operation.
