Ranges observed across Seoul clinics in August 2026. Graft count is decided at consultation — a quote given before anyone examines your scalp is a marketing number.
Clinic-by-clinic prices are being collected. Clinics that decline to publish a price are not listed. Until then the table above is the market range we observed.
Hair transplant vs. the alternatives
| Option | What it is | Best for | Seoul price |
|---|---|---|---|
| FUE, shaven | Follicular unit extraction | Lowest cost, largest sessions | $2–$3 / graft |
| FUE, non-shaven | Same, hair kept long | Returning to work immediately | $3–$4 / graft |
| FUT (strip) | Strip excision | Very large sessions. Leaves a linear scar | $1.5–$2.5 / graft |
| Medication only | Finasteride, minoxidil | Early loss, holding what you have | $15–$40 / month |
What the days after actually look like
- Day 0–2Donor area sore. Tiny scabs at every graft site. A cap covers it but you will know it is there.
- Day 7–10Scabs gone. The earliest most surgeons will clear you to fly.
- Week 3–6Shock loss — the transplanted hairs fall out. This is normal and it frightens people who were not warned.
- Month 4–6New growth begins.
- Month 12–18Final density. This is a one-year wait, not a one-week one.
Plan your trip around this. Clinics will book you whenever you ask; they will not reorganise your holiday for you.
Before and after
We do not have hair transplant before-and-after photographs yet. When we do, every one will carry the clinic's name, how long after the procedure it was taken, and whether the two photographs were shot under the same lighting. We do not retouch them, and we do not publish a photograph without the patient's written consent.
Sites that show polished results without those details are usually showing you stock or AI-generated images rather than patients. We would rather show you nothing here than that.
Who should not have this
- You expect a result on this trip. You fly home looking worse, then lose the grafts temporarily at week three.
- Your loss is still progressing and you are not on medication. You will be back in three years chasing a receding line.
- You have limited donor density and a clinic promises full coverage anyway. Ask what your donor area can actually supply.
- A clinic quotes before examining your scalp. Graft count cannot be known from a photo.
- You are comparing on price per graft alone. Clinics count grafts differently, and a low per-graft price with an inflated count is the oldest trick in this field.
Questions people actually ask
How much is a hair transplant in Korea?
$2,000–$7,000 depending on graft count. Around 2,000 grafts — the most common case — runs $3,000–$5,500. Most clinics price per graft at $2–$4.
How long do I need to stay?
Seven to ten days. Surgery on day one, a wash and check around day two or three, and clearance to fly once the scabs are gone.
Is Korea specifically good for hair transplants?
Korean clinics do very high volume of non-shaven FUE, which is what most visitors want because it hides the procedure. For a shaven mega-session, Turkey does more of those at lower cost.
Why do prices differ so much between clinics?
Graft count, technique, and who does the work. Ask whether the surgeon performs the whole procedure or whether technicians handle extraction and placement. Both are normal; the answer explains the price.
When will I see the result?
Twelve to eighteen months for final density, with visible growth from month four to six. Anyone promising a visible result in weeks is describing shock loss, not growth.
Do I need medication as well?
If your loss is still progressing, usually yes — otherwise you keep losing native hair around the transplant. Ask the surgeon directly rather than assuming the graft settles it.
