RECOVERY AND YOUR FLIGHT
What the days after look like
- Day 0
Each removed spot is covered with a small hydrocolloid patch. Toning leaves faint redness for an hour or two.
- Day 1–7
Keep the patches on. A scab forms underneath and usually comes off by itself within about a week. The patches show in photos.
- Week 2–4
Fresh pink skin. Sunscreen every day: this is when a treated spot can temporarily darken, which is more likely in darker and Asian skin.
- Month 1–3
Colour settles. Some spots need a second pass.
HONESTLY
When we would tell you not to book it
- You fly home in two days and do not want patches in your photos.
- Blotchy, symmetrical brown patches on both cheeks. That may be melasma, which can get worse with aggressive spot removal. Ask about toning and a slower plan.
- A mole that has changed shape, colour or size, bleeds or itches. A doctor needs to examine it, possibly with a biopsy, before anything is lasered.
- You cannot keep up sunscreen for the month afterwards.
- A clinic offers an unlimited “remove everything” deal before looking at your skin.

Spot and mole removal: the short answers
How much is mole removal in Korea?
About $20–$105 per mole by laser in Seoul. Raised and larger moles cost more. Ask for the price per mole in writing.
How many days before my flight should I do it?
Patches and scabs take about a week. Do it on the first full day of a trip of a week or more. On a short trip, choose toning or ask whether the spots can wait.
Is pico toning the same as spot removal?
No. Toning is a gentle, repeated treatment for overall tone. Spot removal targets individual spots and leaves patches for a week.
Can melasma be removed?
Melasma is managed rather than removed, usually with gentle toning over several sessions and daily sunscreen. A clinic promising to erase it in one session is a warning sign.
Will the spots come back?
Removed moles rarely return. Sun spots and freckles can come back with sun exposure.
