A Korean skin clinic day in Gangnam: a sample itinerary
A skin clinic day in Gangnam usually means a morning consultation, treatments that take an hour or two including numbing, and a quiet afternoon while your skin settles. The mistake most visitors make is filling the rest of the day with plans that assume a perfect face. Leave room, and keep the evening flexible.
What readers ask
“How long does a clinic visit actually take?”
“Can I go sightseeing straight after?”
Why Gangnam?
Gangnam, Sinsa, Apgujeong and Cheongdam have Seoul's densest concentration of dermatology and plastic surgery clinics. That means choice, but also that clinics a few blocks apart can work very differently. The area name tells you nothing about a clinic. The doctor, the device and the written quote do.
What does the day look like hour by hour?
| Time | What happens | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Morning | Arrive without make-up, fill in the medical form | Bring your medication list and allergies, written down |
| Late morning | Consultation with the doctor, then the written quote | Do not decide on the spot if the plan changed a lot |
| Around midday | Numbing cream, 20 to 30 minutes | A good time to reread the quote |
| Early afternoon | Treatment | Ask the order if you are having more than one |
| Afternoon | Aftercare instructions, rest | Sunglasses, a hat and a mask help |
| Evening | Low-key dinner, early night | Skip saunas, hot baths and heavy drinking |
What should I bring?
- Passport, since many clinics register foreign patients with it.
- A written list of medicines, supplements and allergies.
- Your questions, written in advance. Consultations can be quick.
- Sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses for afterwards.
- A charged phone with your coordinator's contact.
What can I do after treatment?
It depends on what you had. After lifting devices or botox there is little to see, and a walk or café afternoon is fine. After spot removal you will have small patches on your face. After boosters like Rejuran you will have bumps for a day or two. Plan photos and evenings out for later in the trip, not the same day.
- 01
Little to see
Lifting devices, wrinkle botox, skin botox, toning. Normal afternoon.
- 02
A day or two of marks
Skin boosters, Pico Fraxel, Potenza. Quiet afternoon, no photos.
- 03
About a week of marks
Spot and mole removal. Patches stay on. Book these first in a trip.
What should I avoid that day?
Saunas and jjimjilbang, hot baths, hard workouts and heavy drinking. Not because something dramatic happens, but because heat and alcohol can make swelling and redness last longer. A shopping trip for sunscreen and gentle skincare is a better use of the afternoon.
If you have more than one treatment day, our planner puts treatments with marks first and treatments with nothing to see last, so your skin is as settled as possible on the flight home.
How do I get between clinics and my hotel?
Gangnam is well served by the subway, and taxis are easy to hail with an app. After a treatment with marks, a taxi back is worth it: less sun, less crowding, and you can keep your hat and mask on. If you are seeing two clinics in a day to compare quotes, leave at least an hour between appointments. Consultations run long more often than they run short.
Staying near the clinic area makes a treatment day calmer, but it is not essential. What matters more is that your hotel is somewhere you are happy to spend a quiet afternoon.

Quick answers
Do I need an appointment at Gangnam clinics?
Most clinics prefer one, especially for foreign patients who need an interpreter. Walk-ins can mean long waits.
Can I do two treatments on the same day?
Often yes, and many people do. The doctor decides the order and whether combining makes sense for your skin.
Is English spoken at Gangnam clinics?
Some clinics have English-speaking staff, others rely on translation apps. An interpreter in the room avoids misunderstandings about dose and price.
Should I go to the clinic on the first or last day of my trip?
Treatments that leave marks go early; treatments with nothing to see go late. That way your skin has time to settle before you fly.
