Fake or reused Ultherapy tips: how to check

The simplest protection is to ask, before you book, whether the tip is genuine and new and whether it will be opened in front of you. Most reputable clinics will say yes without hesitation. A clinic that avoids the question, or cannot tell you the shot count, is telling you something.

What readers ask

“How would I even know if the tip was reused?”
“Is it rude to ask to see it opened?”

Why does the tip matter?

An Ultherapy treatment tip is a consumable part. Each one is made to deliver a set number of shots at a particular depth. The tip is a significant part of what a session costs, which is exactly why it is the part most tempting to cut corners on. A tip used beyond its intended count, or a non-genuine tip, may not deliver the energy and depth the doctor intends.

What should you ask before booking?

  • Is this genuine Ultherapy, or a different ultrasound (HIFU) device?
  • Which tips will be used, and at what depths?
  • How many shots will I receive, and on which areas?
  • Will the new tip be opened in front of me?
  • Can I have the shot count written on my receipt or treatment record?

Ask these in writing if you can, through the clinic's messenger before your trip. A written answer is easier to compare across clinics and harder to blur on the day.

Ultherapy or another HIFU device?

Several focused-ultrasound devices exist. Some are lower priced and perfectly legitimate on their own terms. The issue is not which device you choose but whether you are told clearly which one it is. If a quote says HIFU lifting rather than naming the device, ask. Prices should be compared device by device and shot count by shot count.

Ultherapy Prime100 shots$215–$385
Ultherapy Prime300 shots$605–$1,095
Ultherapy Prime600 shots$1,215–$2,120
Shurink (Korean HIFU)300 shots$115

A price close to the Shurink line for something described as Ultherapy should prompt a question. It may be an honest promotion on a small shot count. It may also be a different device.

What should you look for in the treatment room?

  1. 01

    Confirm the device

The machine and the tip should carry the brand name you were quoted.

  2. 02

    Watch the tip opened

A sealed tip opened in front of you is the standard. It takes seconds.

  3. 03

    Ask about the counter

The system tracks shots. You can ask how many were delivered when the session ends.

  4. 04

    Keep the record

Ask for the device, tip and shot count on your receipt or in a message.

“A clinic that is proud of using genuine tips usually shows you before you have to ask.”

What if you have already had treatment and are unsure?

Ask the clinic for your treatment record: device, tip type and shot count. Most clinics keep this. If the answer is vague, use that information when you choose where to go next time. Do not judge only by how much it hurt. Sensation varies between people and between areas, and comfort settings differ, so pain is not a reliable test of a genuine tip.

What are the honest limits?

You cannot verify a tip technically as a patient, and this guide does not claim you can. What you can do is choose clinics that are open about it, get the details in writing, and treat evasive answers as a reason to look elsewhere. This is part of what we check before a clinic joins our list.

Quick answers

Does pain tell me whether the tip was genuine?

No. Sensation varies between people, areas and settings. It is not a reliable check.

Is a cheaper HIFU device a scam?

Not necessarily. Lower-priced devices exist and can be a reasonable choice. The problem is only when you are not told which device you are getting.

What does 정품 인증 mean?

Genuine product check. It refers to original tips and vials, opened in front of you.

Can I ask for the shot count in writing?

Yes. It is a reasonable request and makes it possible to compare clinics fairly.
