Jaw botox in Korea: units, brands and why one quote is four times another
Jaw botox relaxes the masseter muscle so the lower face looks slimmer over four to six weeks. In Seoul the price depends mostly on the brand of toxin and the number of units, not the clinic. A low quote usually means a Korean toxin or fewer units, which can be perfectly fine if you know that is what you are getting.
What readers ask
“Why is one clinic $15 and another over $100?”
“Will I see a slimmer face before I fly home?”
What does jaw botox actually do?
The masseter is the chewing muscle at the angle of the jaw. If it is large, the lower face looks wider or square. Botox relaxes it, and over the following weeks the muscle gets smaller. Clenching and grinding often ease too. It does not remove fat or lift sagging skin, and it does not change bone.
What are you paying for: units or a session?
Units. A typical first treatment in Korea is 50 units for both sides, sometimes more for a strong muscle. Clinics often list a price per session, but behind it there is always a brand and a unit count. That is what you compare.
| Toxin brand | KRW | About USD |
|---|---|---|
| Korean toxin | ₩19,000–₩50,000 | $15–$35 |
| Coretox | ₩49,000–₩100,000 | $35–$70 |
| Xeomin | ₩99,000–₩100,000 | $70 |
| Allergan Botox | ₩100,000–₩149,000 | $70–$105 |
Korean toxin or imported: does it matter?
Korean toxins are widely used in Korea and are the reason prices are so low compared with home. Imported brands such as Xeomin and Allergan cost more. Some people choose a specific brand because of what they have had before, or because a doctor suggests one for repeat treatment. The point is not that one brand is right for everyone. The point is that you should know which one you are paying for.
Will I see results before my flight?
Almost certainly not. The muscle needs weeks to shrink, so jaw botox is a treatment you enjoy at home. There is no visible downtime beyond a few tiny marks for an hour or two, so it can go on the last day of a trip. If you want a slimmer jaw in your holiday photos, this is the wrong timing.
What does the appointment look like?
- 01
Check the muscle
The doctor feels the masseter while you clench, and decides the dose for each side.
- 02
Injection
A few injections per side. Usually five minutes, often without numbing.
- 03
Afterwards
Avoid pressing or massaging the area that day. Chewing may feel a little weaker for a while.
- 04
At home
Slimming builds over four to six weeks. Most people repeat every few months at first.
Who should not book it?
- Your jaw looks wide because of fat or sagging, not muscle. Ask about other options.
- You want the change visible on this trip.
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- A clinic quotes far below everyone else and cannot name the brand or units.
How often do people repeat it?
For the first year, many people repeat every three to six months while the muscle shrinks. After that, some space treatments further apart. If you live abroad and visit Korea once or twice a year, that rhythm can line up with your trips. If it does not, ask your doctor at home about continuing with a brand available there, and keep a note of the brand and units you had in Seoul. That record is worth more than any before photo when the next doctor plans your dose.
Jaw botox pairs easily with other quiet treatments on the same day, such as skin botox or a lifting device. The doctor decides the order and the total dose if more than one area is treated with toxin at once.
